HOW YOU CAN HELP FUND THE YUME TREE

One great way to contribute is through the sponsorship of a 3-inch "names" tile or 6-inch "dreams" tile.  The 3-inch tiles make up the roots, trunks and branches of the YuMe Tree.  The 6-inch Dreams tiles form the background of the mosaic.  The sponsor can have up to 15 words written on the 6" handmade Dreams tile.  Even now, after the YuMe tree's dedication on 4 October, space still is available for additional sponsors (it is not too late!).

The Roots & Dreams, The YuMe Tree and Garden has been financially supported by neighbors, foundations and local businesses.  A special thanks to CVS/pharmacy for the wall and generous financial support.

Several fundraisers were held in early 2003.  The first was held during the E Street block party, the second during the Corner Store's 7th Annual art show for the kids living in the Potomac Gardens public housing project in SE Washington, DC.  On 8 March 2003, the Corner Store organized a fundraising party to find sponsors for the handmade tiles.  The fundraisers and other individual donations from tile  sponsorships and the purchase of Dreams tiles have raised $7,390.

In addition to individual contributions, the DC Commission on the Arts and the CHAMPS Community Foundation added another $5,250. CVS/pharmacy donated a grant at the 15 July launch-party as well.  We are grateful for all of these contributions.  The project budget is $38,000 --  so we still have a ways to go and encourage your financial contribution.  One great way to contribute is through the sponsorship of a 3-inch "names" tile or 6-inch "dreams" tile.  The 3-inch tiles will make up the roots, trunks and branches of the YuMe Tree.  The 6-inch Dreams tiles will form the background of the mosaic.  The sponsor can have up to 15 words written on the 6" handmade Dreams tile
